Developing strong organizational capacity is essential to the Smiling Sun
network. SSFP developed and pre-tested a training productivity assessment tool
and drafted a training follow up checklist which was also pre-tested. In
2008-2009, SSFP held TOTs for Project Directors, Project Managers, Monitoring
Officers and selected Clinic Managers and Service Promoters from 16 clinics.
The main objective of the Training of Trainers (ToT) was to develop a `Pool of
Trainer’ at the franchisee level. At the same time the franchisees `Pool of
Trainer’ will train their Clinic Managers and Administrative Assistants to
enhance their capacity related to financial, procurement, inventory and logistic
management to build common understanding about it and work in a same pace at
Smiling Sun Clinics.
At the end of the training, almost all participants evaluated the TOT as most
effective that met their expectations. They commented that they were able to
learn financial management and its importance, quality reporting system, about
cost principles, easy way of record keeping, procurement system, internal
control and various day to day accounting calculations from the training and
confident to transfer the knowledge to other clinic staff members.
